Import Goals

Top Previous Next

Importing Goals which are records in ManagePro of any type related to your business i.e., goals can be projects, properties, projects, products etc., can be achieved by using the Import CSV Feature right-click menu option.

Why would I use the import feature for Goals?

Used to import large amounts of data for initial database loads that would otherwise require manual input.

Update existing data in ManagePro from external applications that would otherwise require integration

Add additional records to an existing database

Before you begin

Create and Prepare your CSV File

Importing data for initial database loads:

Note the instructions below support the default Project or All Project Main Workspace View columns (shown below) and assume that you have:

1. Created a New Database

2. Imported or added People

People will not be imported if you have not first added or imported them as addressed in the previous topic.

The screenshot below is an example of the .CSV file.

Note by adding the Type Column into your CSV file, records will be imported and identified as either a goal (bullseye), action plan (arrow) or Task check mark). Please see Records/Goal Type for descriptions.  Improved goal "type" import flexibility. Task icon now shows for any type value that starts with the word "task," Action Plan icon shows for any type that starts with the word "action," Heading icon shows for any type that starts with the word "heading". eg. terms in the import column such as "Task", "Task List", "Task Item" would all display the task icon. "Action", "Action Plan", "Action Step", "Action Hero" would all display the "Action Plan" icon

The GUID field is supported the export/import process. Export to Excel function also includes a column containing the GUID value for each record. You can use this as a guaranteed unique ID. Import from CSV function for Goals, Todos and Resources include a GUID Mapping:

To export the Guid field, right-click in the Main Workspace

Select Export>Excel Spreadsheet
