In ManagePro 12 we’ve added the ability to quickly establish which tasks are dependent on previous tasks being completed before they can start, and we’ve added a powerful notification feature. In brief, here’s how the notification works. You create Dependency Links using the right click menu option of Link to Dependent in either the Main Workspace or the Gantt view, but of course you’ll only see a visual indication of the linked relationships (blue lines) when viewing the Gantt view. To create a dependency link, select the trailing record, then right click and choose Link to Dependent, then click Add and select the predecessor record from the drop down list. Once two tasks are linked, when the first task is completed using a progress update and signifying the status is Done, the individuals assigned to complete the trailing or dependent task are emailed that last progress update so they get notified the predecessor task is completed, as well as any other helpful information in the progress update.
