Customizing Views & Record Details Using View Configuration

Top Previous Next

View configuration enables you to customize views and add filters so that you can configure views unique to your organization. For example, View configuration is simply a filtered view of the All Projects View. The All Projects view generally displays All Projects company wide. View configuration enables you to apply filters so only a sub-set of records specific to a particular Business Group or Department or Project and specific to only the fields are displayed on the View. There is great flexibility here.

View Configuration is an Administrator function and is available as a right-click menu option on the Main Workspace, Gantt Chart, Scorecard and People and Meetings Views as well as Progress Updates, Todos and Events.

First, ManagePro ships with default Views and sub-views. An example is shown below:

You can access the Views from the Ribbon Control or by clicking on the sub-view

In the example below you can see that the All Goals_Projects View includes Project Management, Portfolio Management, Top Priority, etc. But sub-views have been created so that when you click Project Management, only records that meet a specific criteria are displayed on this View. This feature is useful, especially for large databases and allows users to only work with a sub-set of data rather than all records in the database which could otherwise be daunting if this feature were not available.

You can select which Views are visible/displayed or not by checking or unchecking the views on the View Configuration Window and also arrange the views to display in a particular order by using the up and down navigation buttons to the right of the window below.

Filtering Views

Filtering views enable you to apply unique filters specific to your business need and is what actually creates the sub-view. It's very simple, in that you can create at least one and up to four filters for your sub-view. Here's how:

After you have either configured a new view, configured an existing view or cloned an existing view, Click Filter

1.

Field  = to Roll Down Text 1, 2 or 3

2.

Condition is Equal

3.

Value is Finance

4.

Click OK

The sub-view Finance is now available for selection
