ID/Automatic numbering system

ManagePro has an automatic numbering system which generates a record id number each time a new record is added. A record id is also assigned to all existing records in your database including those which have been deleted. The record id is assigned in chronological order.  However, deleted records are considered in the auto numbering.  For instance, if your database has record ID numbers up to number 501 and the record with record ID number 501 was deleted, and then another record is added, the record ID number assigned will be 502. The auto numbering feature along with the prompt which provides a warning if a record with the same name is being entered can prevent duplicate records from being added to the database.

Example:  If a user attempts to add a record with the same title name as one which already exists in the database, the prompt below will display and you can either click OK to continue saving the duplicate record or click “Cancel” to modify the record title name and avoid adding a duplicate.

The record id is a read only field and can be configured onto a view in the Main Workspace by your MPro Administrator by following the instructions below:

In the Main Workspace>Right-click>View Configuration

Choose the view to be configured and click Configure

In the column on the right, scroll to the field named record ID

Click ADD to add the field to column on the right

Click the navigation buttons on the right to position in the field in the order by which you want it displayed on the view. Note- the record ID cannot appear as the first column in front on the “title” field.

Click OK back to the Main Workspace view
